Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX

Pros

  • Wide Zoom Range: The 18-200mm focal length offers great versatility for a variety of photographic situations.
  • VR Stabilization: Helps to minimize camera shake in low light conditions and at longer focal lengths.
  • Fast and Quiet Autofocus: Thanks to the Silent Wave Motor (SWM).
  • Compact and Lightweight: Easy to carry, ideal for travel and everyday use.

Cons

Variable Aperture: Limits performance in low light conditions.

Distortion: Can exhibit distortion, especially at shorter focal lengths.

Sharpness: Sharpness may decrease towards the edges of the frame, especially at longer focal lengths.

The lens body stretches itself if you put it with the lens facing downward! Same problem for vertical upward position. If you extend the lens to the maximum zoom and point it up, the zoom is reduced, the lens returns to 18mm. I have read on the forums that this is a known and widespread problem. I showed the defect to Nikon, but they told me that it is "wear and tear" and therefore not under warranty. This is not the case because I will have taken at most a hundred pictures with this lens, but there was nothing to be done.

If you have to buy it used, make sure it does not have this defect.
