Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone is a chemical component on which many laboratory tests have been carried out.

Statistically significant changes in blood chemistry parameters (reduced aspartate aminotransferase and increased cholesterol, creatinine, and total protein). Based on histopathological changes in the kidney in males, the no-observed-adverse-effect level was 30 mg/kg/d (1).

It can give allergic reactions if the user has very sensitive skin and above all because it is often in the company of Linalool and Eugenol (2).

Regarding the sensitization induced on the skin by fragrances, some non-reactive compounds such as α-isomethyl ionone, benzyl alcohol, amyl cinnamal and farnesol have become reactive after photo-oxidative degradation (3).
