Narcissus or Daffodil (Narcissus tazetta L.) belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family and it is a bulb plant cultivated all over the world, but particularly in East Asia, China and Europe.

It is a very scented flower generally yellow or white in color.

The term "narcissus" includes 80 to 100 wild species of perennial geophytes located in southwestern Europe. Some species in France and Italy.

A very common variety is the Narcissus tazetta L. var. chinensis Roem

Native habitats range from woodlands, grasslands, rocky crevices, and riverbanks and are pollinated by pollinating insects with flowering in late spring, but also in fall and some species in late winter.

It is rather complicated as a traditional crossing procedure so only a rather limited number of cultivars are exploited.

Beware of its bulb because it contains a toxic substance if ingested.

It is the emblem of Wales
