What is Glyceryl Glucoside
It is a chemical compound (α-d-glucosyglycerol) derived from glycerol.
What is it for?
It has moisturizing properties (1) and for this purpose it is used in creams, shampoos and liquid soaps.
It is also used in alcoholic beverages, beautiful cryopreservation and in medicine as a skin protector.
Safety
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and glycerol are widely used in cryopreservation. This study concludes that Glyceryl Glucoside may be a safer alternative compound to glycerol in cosmetic products and a safer alternative to DMSO in cryopreservation (2).
