The White daffodil garlic (Allium neapolitanum) is a plant that reaches 45 cm in height and that blooms with small corolla flowers of white and pink color.

It belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family.

It is known by many names:

  • Neapolitan Garlic
  • Naples Garlic
  • False Garlic
  • Wood Garlic
  • Flowering Onion
  • Guernsey Star-of-Bethlehem

In May it produces 4 to 6 seeds of light brown / red under the flowers.

It is the younger brother of garlic and the seeds are edible and have the classic taste of garlic, but with a slight background aroma.

Contains antioxidant and antibacterial substances.

Composition of essential oils (1):

  • chrysanthenyl acetate (28.1%),
  • (Z)-chrysanthenyl acetate (23.8%),
  • (E)-β-farnesene (9.6%),
  • dimethyl trisulfide (9.6%),
  • canfora (7.4%),
  • methyl allyl disulfide (6.8%)
  • 1-methyl-3-allyl trisulfide (5.8%)
