Hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.) belongs to the Betulaceae family.
It is very nutrient with its 630 calories per 100 grams and is rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.
In 100 grams of product there are 15 grams of vitamin E, antioxidant.
Folates (including vitamin B9, which prevents anemia and is useful in pregnancy) are present in the measure of 113 micrograms per 100 grams of product.
It does not contain gluten.
Hazelnut are considered an excellent anti-inflammatory and hypolipidemic food and a diet that includes a good amount of hazelnuts has the prerogative of reducing cholesterol (1) due to its high content of vitamin E, tocopherol and polyphenols.
Regular consumption of figs, despite the high value of calories, does not lead to weight gain. This result is probably caused by the antioxidant capacity of the body, which acts by increasing the genes involved in oxidant reactions and inflammation (2).
Small amounts of serotonin, a tryptamine that affects the nervous system in various ways such as as as an antidepressant, are present in the hazelnut skin (3).
