Plot

The film is set in rural America in the 1920s and revolves around three couples spending a weekend at a countryside house. The couples consist of:

Andrew (played by Woody Allen) and Adrian (played by Mary Steenburgen): A university professor and his wife who are trying to resolve their intimacy issues.

Leopold (played by José Ferrer) and Ariel (played by Julie Hagerty): A doctor and his wife who bring along the young and alluring Dora (played by Mia Farrow), a patient Leopold intends to seduce.

Maxwell (played by Tony Roberts) and Dulcy (played by Mia Farrow): A businessman and his wife who, despite their relationship problems, attempt to maintain an appearance of normalcy.

The weekend takes a surprising turn when a mysterious phenomenon leads to the appearance of a supernatural being called "the angel of death." This event leads to comedic and romantic situations and reveals the secrets and desires of the three couples.

The film explores themes of desire, love, jealousy, and magic through a light and whimsical style. It's a romantic comedy with touches of surrealism and a cohesive ensemble cast.

My opinion.  A well-constructed film full of comic insights, with that introspection in characters that Woody Allen is very good at.

We find six characters, each with special characteristics, and none of them comes close.

Quite difficult, but the director has almost succeeded. I say almost because, while the five characters are well cast in their roles, the protagonist Mia Farrow appears somewhat awkward and not perfectly comfortable in the role. The problem is that she always has the attitude of a dramatic actress and not a comedic one.

The story is about three couples who spend a weekend in a country house, and the men, being very different in character from each other, do not get along well, but more importantly, they are immediately fascinated by each other's partners. And here begins a very amusing game of trying to swap couples.

All very good and funny.

I would say good directing, but not great, with scenes often not placed in the right sequence.

Good cinematography.
