Larry Crowne is a 2011 film directed by Tom Hanks. The film's plot is a romantic comedy that follows the life of Larry Crowne, an adult who decides to reinvent himself by going back to college to improve his life.

Plot

Larry Crowne (played by Tom Hanks) is a middle-aged man who works as a clerk at a large store. Despite being a model employee, he loses his job due to not having a high school diploma. This situation forces him to reevaluate his life and seek new opportunities.

Larry decides to enroll in the local community college to obtain the missing diploma. There, he encounters a diverse community of students, including Talia (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a charismatic young woman, and Professor Mercedes Tainot (played by Julia Roberts), who has lost her passion for teaching.

Larry quickly adapts to college life, makes new friends, and develops an interest in economics. Meanwhile, Talia suggests that he take speech classes and redefine his appearance. Larry follows her advice and undergoes a radical lifestyle change, including buying a scooter.

The plot follows Larry's personal growth as he reinvents himself and redefines his future. He forms a special bond with Mercedes and her lessons on communication, and a romantic connection begins to develop between them.

Major Awards: The film received mixed reviews from critics.

Box Office Gross: The film achieved moderate success at the box office.

Critical Reception: The film tackles themes of personal reinvention, friendship, and love. While it received mixed reviews from critics, the film was appreciated for its sweetness and the performances of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. It achieved moderate success at the box office and carries a positive and optimistic tone.

My opinion: Boring from beginning to end, few comic situations and many banalities. Great actors like Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts wasted.

There are all the clichés possible: the American school that teaches poorly to incompetent students, the unmotivated professor, the sly black man in trade, etc.

I was hoping for at least a few laughs, but in the whole hour and a half I found nothing that even made me smile.
