Critics' Reception: "Sneakers" was well-received by critics for its blend of suspense, humor, and themes of technological surveillance that were particularly relevant in the early '90s. The performances of the ensemble cast, especially those of Redford and Poitier, were praised, as was Robinson's direction and Horner's score.
My opinion. It seems that without the CIA an action movie has little following, but in Sneakers they replaced the CIA with the NSA and it was a step forward. Robert Redford, despite his age moves well in the character of a hacker leading a company engaged in corporate security. He is surrounded by good supporting characters and the story moves along nicely.
Very fast-paced film with constant exchanges of situations. Let's say that the story is not that convincing, especially in the ending that falls into the grotesque, but it is still a good, rather long film, over two hours, that deserves to be reviewed.
Good music and decent cinematography.
Good direction, but comic-book novel script.
