What is Sinaptic acid

(3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) is a natural component of fruit and plants.

It is commonly found in spices, berries, fruits, vegetables, cereals and oil seeds

What is it for?

It is known in the medical field as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, neuroprotective and antibacterial.

Studies

The literature reveals that sinapic acid is a bioactive phenolic acid and has the potential to attenuate various chemically-induced toxicities (1).

High-fat diet (HFD) induces oxidative stress and microbial dysbiosis, the latter of which plays a role in the development of metabolic syndrome. This study hypothesized that synaptic acid and resveratrol treatment might be a potential strategy to ameliorate the redox state and gut microbiota composition imbalance (2).

In vivo, sinapic acid could delay the progress of mice osteoarthritis models. This study propose that sinapic acid may be applied as a potential therapeutic drug in osteoarthritis treatment (3).

It is thought that Sinapic acid has anticancer effect on prostate cancer cells. However, more detailed studies should be conduct to illuminate molecular mechanism of apoptotic and antimetastatic activity of Sinapic acid (4).
