Potassium iodide is a chemical compound formed from potassium and iodide.
Medicine.
It is used against fungal infections (1), against feline Sporotricosis which is an endemic disease in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the zoonotic transmission of Sporothrix spp. was identified in 1998 (2) and better known as "Gardener's disease" or cutaneous sporotrichosis, which can be contracted in the forests of the Amazon, as in this case, by a tourist on an excursion in those forests (3).
Also used in dentistry.
