Perlite is an amorphous alumina-silicate rock material in colors ranging from light gray to glossy black. Its use dates back to the 1800s and the modern exploitation of this resource in the United States began in 1940.

Perlite mines are found all over the globe and the main producers are Greece, China, Iran, Turkey, USA and Japan.

Applications: sandblasting, slag coagulant, metal finishes.

Then there are the finished products: acoustic ceiling panels, insulated pipes.

It is used in paints, plastics, packaging materials, wastewater treatment, soft drinks, cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications.
