Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate or Tauranol has been used in toothpaste as an antibacterial anti-plaque agent (1).

In ophthalmic solution, Tauranol has been shown to be effective in stimulating bacterial detachment without leaving any detectable residues of ophthalmic solution or detergents in contact lenses (2).

In this study, the effects of N-acyl taurates on intestinal absorption of curcumin, a water-insoluble and poorly absorbed compound, were examined in rats. Sodium methyl lauroyl taurate and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate were the most effective in increasing intestinal solubility and absorption of curcumin (3).
