Gamma oryzanol has recently demonstrated, in scientific studies, excellent anti-diabetic properties, interacting with Dopamine D2. Dopamine is the main neurotransmitter that controls a wide range of biological processes important in neurological, cardiovascular and metabolic homeostasis. Gamma oryzanol acts directly on pancreatic islets and improves insulin secretion in vivo, increases insulin biosynthesis, significantly decreases glucagon levels in plasma (1).

In studies on laboratory animals, Gamma oryzanol showed a potential antioxidant activity (2).

As for the musculature, it is believed that the muscular strength is improved when the exercise is accompanied by the intake of food supplements containing Gamma oryzanol (3).

The consumption of Gamma oryzanol is safe, without side effects and plays an important role, at least in part, in preventing some diseases related to an incorrect lifestyle linked to oxidative stress and high fat consumption (4).

Rice bran extracts containing Gamma oryzanol differentially inhibit colon cancer (5).

The food factor plays a crucial role in the management of cancer cases and has attracted the attention of researchers as an option to combat this disease. Both in vitro and in vivo, scientific studies have shown that rice and its derivatives show encouraging results in prevention of this disease. The mechanism of the antitumor effect is suggested, in part, through the enhancement of bioactive compounds such as vitamin E, phytic acid, Gamma oryzanol and phenols (6).
