Il Kumquat (Fortunella margarita)  belongs to the Rutaceae family and is also called Chinese Mandarin, Citrus japonica, kingen.

It has excellent antioxidant properties due to the substantial presence of limonene as well as phenolic acids, flavonoids, flavonones.

Other components, myrcene, delta-germacrene, have an antibacterial function (1).

Essential oils are extracted that have proved interesting against prostate cancer in vitro (2).
