What is Propylene carbonate
It is a biodegradable aliphatic polycarbonate derived from carbon dioxide and propylene oxide. It has a rather low glass transition temperature and becomes brittle at low temperature.
What is it for?
It is effective as a cleaner on hard surfaces, resins, glass fibers and polyurethanes.
It can be used as an intermediate reagent in the formation of carbamate, transesterification.
An alternative low toxicity solvent (propylene carbonate; PC) proposed for the preparation of poly(lactic-co-glycolic-acid) microparticles (1).
Block polymer for drug delivery (2).
Molecular Formula : C4H6O3
