Corn oil is used both as a food oil and as an industrial oil.
As with many oils, it can be placed on the market: natural, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated.
Health
Corn oil intake has no effect on hepatic fibrogenesis, in this study carried out on a comparison with the intake of lard (1).
As for the effects of edible oils heated on the intake of trans fatty acids, which are therefore harmful to health, an ordinary frying process at 170 ° (in this case a slice of chicken) has had little impact on the daily consumption of acidstrans fat (2).
Animal feed
There is a tendency to use more alternative lipids in the feeding of poultry, both through mixtures of animal-vegetable origin and corn oil compounds (3).
Industry
It is used for the production of cheeses (4), sausages (5) biodiesel (6).
