Glyceryl monooleate was a potassium penetrant enhancer for petrolatum in this in vitro analysis (1).
Effect of petrolatum coating on fast-absorbing gut suture (2).
The rheological properties of petrolatum which depend on both temperature and thermal history are studied. It has been shown that the rheological differences in petrolatum can be explained by the number of lamellar cells present, so that there are more lamellar piles, the more the petrolatum is rigid (3).
Safety
This study reports the case of a young woman who contracted exogenous lipoid pneumonia due to the chronic use of petrolatum-based Vicks VapoRub nasal ointment. A rather rare case (4).
