Bisoprololo, un derivato del fenossi-2-propanolo,  è  un farmaco ampiamente usato per curare l'insufficienza cardiaca cronica come base libera o base coniugata di bisoprololo fumarato in forma transdermica, compresse.

E' un beta-bloccante anche utilizzato nel trattamento di ipertensione, fibrillazione atriale,  sindrome da tachicardia posturale, angina e aritmia.

I farmaci antipertensivi sotto forma di cerotti transdermici in particolare sono considerati clinicamente significativi in quanto consentono un controllo stabile della pressione diastolica (1).

Esercita un'attività antiossidante e, per la sua natura lipofilica agevola il passaggio nel tessuto cerebrale per produrre azioni terapeutiche sui neuroni centrali (2)

In un confronto, la tollerabilità, l'efficacia e la sicurezza del bisoprololo e del carvedilolo non mostrano tra loro significative differenze (3).
