Sodium periodate is an inorganic sodium salt that has the periodate as a counterion. 

Used in the industrial sector as an oxidizing agent, in the printing process on ceramic sheet and printed fabrics, in screen printing processes and in the food and pharmaceutical industry.

It is an analytical regent, oxidizer and chromatographic reagent.
