Review chips San Carlo 1936 con pezzetti di pomodoro prezzemolo basilico. 150 grams packaged in a plastic bag.

Ingredients: Potatoes, high oleic sunflower oil, dressing 8% glucose, sea salt, yeast extract, dehydrated tomatoes (10%), flavourings, parsley (2.9%), basil (0.5%), sodium acetate.

Compared to 1936 Antica ricetta which, in my opinion, are the best chips on the market, there are differences, some positive and some negative.

Let's start from the calories that in this package are lower, even if by a little: 480 kcal compared to 499 of 1936 Antica ricetta.

The total fat is a little higher: 23 grams for every 100 grams of product in this package against 25 of the 1936 Antica ricetta.

And so far the differences are minimal, but beware of sugars and salt.

1936 Pomodoro prezz. basil 1936 Antica ricetta
Sugar g/100g 3,4 0,4
Salt g/100g 1,6 1,2

The difference is relevant.

Let's examine the ingredients now to see what we'll put in our gut.

High oleic sunflower oil is a version with a lower level (8.5%) of saturated fats compared to linolenic sunflower oil, the most common, therefore a very good oil.

In the dressing we find:

Glucosio. Glucose. It is a monosaccharide, the main source of carbon for cell biosynthesis and energy generation in the human body. A good ingrdiente as long as you do not exaggerate in the intake and this is not the case.

Sale marino. Sea salt. Certainly preferable to ordinary table salt for its iodine content, but be careful not to exaggerate with the intake and here the quantity is high.

There is little to say about yeast extract. It is definitely a natural yeast.

Aromi.  I don't appreciate the added and useless chemistry. the term "Aroma" or "Flavours" is generic, so it doesn't mean that the aroma or flavours inserted are obtained naturally, but it is a jumble of substances or preparations, also obtained with synthetic transformations, i.e. chemistry.

Pomodoroprezzemolo basilico Tomato, parsley and basil all have properties that are interesting for your health that you can control with a click on the name.

Acetato di sodio Sodium acetate is a good preservative.

Conclusion

These chips are a good product as long as you don't overuse them, like a bag per day or something similar. The ingredients are all great.

The sweet taste is too pronounced.

It's more of an occasional snack to accompany snacks and drinks than real chips to eat alone.
