Aboca neoBianacid pack of 14 tablets for a total of 21.7 grams.

Indications (from the website www.aboca.com):

NeoBianacid is indicated for the treatment of problems related to acidity, such as burning, pain, gastroesophageal reflux and gastritis. It is also indicated in the treatment of symptoms associated with dyspepsia (difficulty in digestion), such as burning, heaviness and meteorism. NeoBianacid can be useful in prevention, in situations that can induce irritation of the mucosa (intake of anti-inflammatory drugs/non-steroidal painkillers, periods of psychophysical stress, seasonal changes, incorrect diet and lifestyle). The product is also suitable for use in pregnancy, during lactation, and in children over 6 years old. NeoBianacid is a product with ingredients from organic farming, gluten-free and with a pleasant taste.

Ingredients as indicated on the label:

NeoBianacid contains Poliprotect®, a molecular complex resulting from Aboca research with muco-adhesive properties. Poliprotect® acts thanks to the synergy between the polysaccharide component (molecular weight > 20.000 Daltons) and the mineral component (Limestone and Nahcolite).

Flavonoid fraction: Matricaria recutita, Glycyrrhiza glabra, organic cane sugar, gum arabic, natural mint flavor.

Let's review the ingredients in order of quantity as listed on the label.

Poliprotect® is a synergistic molecular complex of polysaccharides obtained from Aloe vera, Malva sylvestris and Althea officinalis from Organic Farming. It also has two mineral components: Limestone and Nahcolite (Sodium Bicarbonate).

Matricaria recutita is the most common and well-known medicinal plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, the classic chamomile. Despite being the most commonly used herb for sleep disorders, it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and fungicidal activity.

Glycyrrhiza glabra  is one of the plants of the Glycyrrhiza species from which licorice is extracted. It is a flavor and a medicine of traditional medicine since centuries and contains about 70 flavonoids and triterpenoid glycosides which exert antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity. Excessive intakes of licorice may be the cause of a possible rise in blood pressure, but, as reported in the package insert of this medicine, the glycyrrhizin content due to licorice is lower than reported to be the cause of a possible rise in blood pressure.

Zucchero di canna.  In sugar cane and its derivatives are present many phytoconstituents and components beneficial for health, however it should be remembered it is still a sugar to which we must be careful about the quantity in order to have a balanced diet. The phytochemical analysis of sugar cane wax (obtained from leaves and stalks), leaves, fruit juice revealed the presence of many fatty acids, alcohol, phytosterols, superior terpenoids, flavonoids, -o- and -C-glycosides, phenolic acids and anthocyanins.

Gomma arabica Gum arabic or acacia gum, labeled E414 in food additives, is made by carving the bark of two species of acacia trees. Recently, gum arabic has been used as an antimicrobial agent, mixed with polymeric membranes, against Escherichia coli bacteria

Aroma naturale di menta. Natural mint flavor. The genus Mentha includes about 40 species, 15 hybrids and hundreds of cultivars of plants of this genus belonging to the family Lamiaceae. The label does not specify which mint was used for this flavor.

Conclusions

An excellent product that stands out from the flood of medicines that contain effective active ingredients, but which unfortunately often contain decidedly inadvisable excipients and film coatings such as parabens (especially E216 and E218) and titanium dioxide (E171) and so on. This product is free of them.

As far as efficacy is concerned, as a result of heartburn after a meal in a restaurant, I experienced almost immediate benefit after letting a tablet dissolve slowly in my mouth. The taste is liquorice-like and the tablet dissolves in about two to three minutes.
