Lotus Corniculatus Flower Extract is extracted from the plant Lotus corniculatus, a member of the Fabaceae family, native to the temperate climate of Eurasia and North Africa, which flowers from June to August with clusters of yellow flowers.

Its major constituents are phenolic acids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins.

Lotus Corniculatus is used as animal feed and its extract is used in traditional medicine to treat pharyngitis and coughs.

Lotus Corniculatus extract has demonstrated interesting therapeutic properties as an antioxidant (1), antidepressant (2) and anti-inflammatory (3).

The presence of tannins could have a positive effect on certain proteolytic bacteria and on total intestinal microbial protein (4).
