Ingredients:
Let us look at the most significant ingredients in order of quantity as indicated on the label. Here is a brief summary for space reasons. For the full text, studies and bibliography just click on the ingredient and, if you want to go deeper, it is a good read, perhaps a little difficult because these are scientific studies, but it clarifies the ingredient/health relationship.
Sodium laureth sulfate, chemical compound, a very common ethoxylated surfactant, also called SLES for which much of the scientific literature has been warning for decades about the danger of chemical compounds that may be present in this component.
Citric Acid is the most widely used organic acid and the most widely produced chemical on an industrial scale. In cosmetics it is used as a preservative and to regulate pH.
Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, a surfactant derived from coconut used in liquid soaps, shampoos and others when a gentle cleansing action is required.
Glycol Distearate, a chemical compound, an ester of stearic acid. Used as a non-ionic surfactant, emollient, mattifying and emulsifying agent in cosmetics.
Sodium chloride In cosmetics, sodium chloride, the classic salt, acts as a thickener.
Ammonium hydroxide, a detergent consisting of ammonia and water in very variable proportions depending on the formula in which it is included.
Carbomer, a chemical compound derived from acrylic acid and is used as a stabiliser, thickener and emulsifier in cosmetic products.
Diaminopyrimidine oxide a chemical compound. Its primary use is for hair care and revitalisation by acting on hair follicles. The fibrosis generated in hair follicles causes the collagen around the roots to harden and tighten, creating ideal conditions for hair loss. Diamopyrimidine Oxide has a softening effect on collagen, counteracting this phenomenon.
Disodium Ricinoleamido MEA Sulfosuccinate, a chemical compound, disodium salt of butanedioic acid. It is used in cosmetics as: surfactant foaming agent hydrotropic cleaning agent skin conditioner.
Hexylene glycol low molecular weight surfactant and emulsifier.
Niacinamide, a starch derived from vitamin B3, niacin. In cosmetics it is used to soften the skin.
Panthenol derived directly from vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid, it has favourable and lasting effects on barrier function and repair, as well as on skin hydration without adversely affecting bacterial viability in the skin's microflora. Exerts a positive effect on the epithelium in general
PEG-55 Propylene Glycol oleate a chemical compound acting as a non-ionic viscosity agent, widely used in cosmetics and in liquid soaps and shampoos.
Polyquaternium-7 an organic quaternary ammonium compound. It is used as a conditioner and antistatic, with high charge density and good stability, in cosmetics to improve hair combability, increase volume and shine in shampoos, conditioners in a wide range of pH values between 5 and 8 for both dry and wet chemical hair treatment.
Propylene glycol, a chemical compound with infinite applications. In cosmetics, it acts as a humectant.
Pyridoxine HCL a chemical compound, a form of vitamin B6, is included in cosmetic body care products for its protective action on the skin by exerting an anti-ageing action on epithelial cells. It is an absorber of ultraviolet radiation. and is a co-adjuvant in hair growth.
Salicylic acid a classic preservative, used for generations to preserve tomato puree, vegetables and more. A safe component.
Sodium benzoate, chemical compound that is used as a preservative in the food industry and in cosmetics for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
Sodium glycolate Mainly used as a skin conditioning agent, it also serves to soften lines on the skin by acting as a humectant. As an exfoliating agent it uses the moisture in the air to remove dead cells.
Sodium hydroxide famous chemical compound that is also called caustic soda. Don't worry, in cosmetics, when added in small quantities, it is a detergent that dissolves oils and grease.
Parfum (Fragrance) The term "Parfum" is a generic term for a fragrance and is used in cosmetic products to denote fragrant and aromatic compounds and their raw materials. They may be natural products, but most are of chemical origin.
Conclusions
Excellent fragrance and creamy texture.
Most skin and hair care products, such as this product, use Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) as the primary surfactant. This is because the surfactant that preceded SLES in time and was called SLS was considered to be rather aggressive on the skin. The idea of creating a surfactant derived from SLS but more respectful of the needs of the epidermis was a good one, so much so that SLES quickly became the panacea of surfactants. The fact is that, with its use, not only did the number of products containing it multiply, but so did the number of scientific studies examining its characteristics and its possible danger to the skin, allergies or intolerances aside. Explaining why here would be an unnecessary repetition, so I invite those who want to know more about SLES to click on the name of the ingredient, as I wrote in the epigraph, and they will be redirected to the main page of the product where there are references to the scientific studies that have examined it in depth.
So, a good product for the hair in general as it uses excellent ingredients and quality, as we have seen and examined, but which I personally will not buy again, out of caution, due to the presence of SLES.
