Let us look at the most significant ingredients in order of quantity as indicated on the label. For reasons of space, here is a brief summary. For the full text, studies and bibliography just click on the ingredient and, if you want to delve deeper, it is perhaps a little complex reading because these are scientific studies, but it clarifies the ingredient/health relationship.

Decyl glucoside is a chemical compound, alkyl glucoside derived from plants, usually palm trees, and is included in cosmetic formulations as a non-ionic, stabilising, PEG-free surfactant. It produces a good foam, has a low level of sodium salts and is rapidly biodegradable.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is an auxiliary surfactant, an anionic cleaning agent with the function of a foaming agent, usually included at a dosage of 1%-5%.

Glycerin.  In detergents, shampoos and other cosmetic products it is included in the formula with the aim of moisturising and softening the skin, protecting it from ageing or roughness.

Sucrose Cocoate non-ionic surfactant, emollient and moisturising agent, PEG-free, increases viscosity and foaming density in liquid soaps with slight thickening effect.

Parfum (Fragrance). is a generic term for a fragrance and is used in cosmetic products to indicate fragrance and aromatic compounds and their raw materials; it could be a natural product, but unless specified, it is of chemical origin.  No manufacturer declares which chemical compound is behind the cryptonym "Parfum".

C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer makes oil-in-water emulsions of organic oils more stable where emulsion stability is a product quality priority.

Propanediol  a chemical intermediate in cosmetic products, it is derived from glycerine and used as a lubricant by the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

Sodium glutamate is generally included in cosmetic hair care formulations to improve hydration, elasticity and flexibility and is a good substitute for mineral oils.

Sodium Chloride   In cosmetics, sodium chloride, the classic salt, acts as a thickener.

Caprylyl glycol  antimicrobial preservative.

Potassium sorbate another preservative, one of the safest.

Coconut acid is a mixture of oils and fatty acids derived from fat and coconut oil. An emollient.

Citric  Acid  is the most widely used organic acid and the most widely produced chemical on an industrial scale. In cosmetics it is used as a preservative and to regulate pH.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice an extract from the leaves of the Aloe vera plant, which has been credited with many healthy properties and, in this case, with restoring elasticity and softness to the skin.

Limonene  an excellent flavouring agent often blamed for its allergenicity in cosmetic products, but this is more due to oxidation than to the component itself.

Linalool   It is a chemical intermediate. Fragrance included in toothpastes, sunscreens, lipsticks, deodorants, lip balms. It is a component considered safe if not oxidised.

Hydroxycitronellal  a synthetic fragrance

Citronellol  another synthetic fragrance.

Conclusions

Excellent product with high quality ingredients and, chemistry permitting, among the most natural ingredients seen so far in a shower gel formulation. The foam is not excessive, soft and the persistence of the scent on the skin is average. However, this depends largely on the skin type. The scent of roses is quite intense and this is easily explained by the position of the cryptic Parfum in fifth position on the label. Frankly, it seems too high for a chemical compound that is virtually unknown in terms of its formula and ingredients. Usually Parfum is found, in similar products, in the last positions on the label, a more reasonable position. Caudalie wanted to highlight the fragrance. A choice which can also be shared.

The gel mixture is full-bodied, soft, which means that it will not slip through the fingers easily, which translates into a saving of product. The gel is also very homogeneous with a very pleasant colour.

The cost is high, around 31 euros per litre, but reflects the quality. No mysterious or irritating components (apart from parfum). And that is the most important aspect.
