RENISHAW MI 16 Touch-Trigger Probe System

has been produced in various versions and MK2, MK3 are the most popular. In particular, the MK3 is the probe version with selectable channel radio transmission. This system provides a means of measuring the workpiece and setting up work on machine tools. The probe's 'trigger' signal can be transmitted over distances of up to 15 metres (49.2 feet) in non-visual operation.

The signals received from each RMM2 are passed to the MI 16 via coaxial cable, which decodes them and converts them into solid state relay (SSR) form for use by the machine tool's CNC controller.
