Review Shampoo all'ortica dioica 200 ml

what it is for:

Special features:

Ingredient:

Let us examine the most significant ingredients in order of quantity as indicated on the label. I provide a brief summary for reasons of space. For the full text, studies and bibliography, just click on the ingredient and, if you want to go deeper, it is perhaps a little complex reading because these are scientific studies, but it clarifies the ingredient/health relationship.

Lauryl Glucoside. Non-ionic surfactant, biodegradable cleaning agent

Sodium cocoyl barley amino acids is a surfactant of plant origin obtained chemically by starting with amino acids from barley proteins and, by condensation, reacting with the sodium salt of coconut acid.  Emulsifier, skin conditioner, ion stabiliser and excellent cleansing power.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, sale disodico dell'acido L-glutammico, tensioattivo, un agente di pulizia anionico con funzioni di agente schiumogeno.

Glyceryl oleate, Chemical intermediate compound prepared by the esterification of oleic acid. It contains glyceryl esters of fatty acids found in oleic acid. Stabilising emulsifier.

Urtica dioica leaf extract is the leaf extract of the common herb nettle plant with anti-dandruff and anti-hair loss properties.

Coco Glucoside is a chemical compound derived from plants, usually coconut, and is a non-ionic surfactant used as a foaming agent and emulsifier.

Cocamidopropyl betaine surfactant with antimicrobial and foaming function, softens hair and reduces static electricity, biodegradable. It is however considered an allergen.

Citric acid, an odourless organic tricarboxylic acid and is obtained from lemon juice (citrus in Latin, which gave this acid its name), other fruits, beet juice and other vegetables.

Lactic acid. To maintain the pH value between 4 and 5 and as a wetting agent.

Sodium lactate is a natural salt obtained from the fermentation of lactic acid. Used in shampoos, bath and shower gel and other personal care products as an antioxidant enhancer, emulsifier and moisturiser.

Urea  A component of the skin's natural moisturising factor, it plays an important role in preserving the moisture and integrity of the skin. It is used as an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal agent.

Parfum Used as a synthetic fragrance, Parfum does not have a list of its ingredients as each manufacturer produces it at the customer's request. Therefore, it is not known whether there are chemical compounds within it that can create sensitisation.

Alpha isomethyl ionone. It is a chemical fragrance that is added to products such as liquid soaps, shampoos and others to impart a violet scent.

Benzyl salicylate  benzyl ester of salicylic acid, another fragrance, a bit of a pollutant.

Coumarin an antimicrobial flavouring.

Eugenol  is a phenolic compound found naturally in many plants, a popular fragrance in cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals that is used to perfume products containing it with cloves (from which it is extracted) and cinnamon.

Evernia furfuracea extract. This is a compound to be warned about. It is included in cosmetic formulations to impart musk and tree scent. Two compounds are found in the composition of Evernia furfuracea that have created cases of sensitisation.

Limonene is a monoterpene hydrocarbon, one of the most frequently found in the plant kingdom, synthesised and used as a fragrance, but also possesses antioxidant activities.  Reading many reviews concerning the cosmetics industry, limonene, like linalool, or linalool, are cited as dangerous components, but this is not the case. It is the oxidation of the product that can be potentially dangerous, as limonene, in cosmetics, is processed in a non-sterile manner and in contact with components that can accelerate the oxidative process. For this reason, it is one of the chemicals that can cause allergies and it is compulsory to write it on the label when its percentage exceeds a certain value.

Sodium chloride is the common salt. In cosmetics, sodium chloride functions to increase the moisturising effectiveness of ageing skin, is a thickener in shampoos and conditioners, but is also a co-factor in the eye irritation experienced with most shampoos and can cause dryness and itching of the scalp.

Benzyl alcohol is a natural aromatic alcohol. Aromatising agent, solvent, preservative, viscosity decreasing agent, perfume fixative. Deodorant.

Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of sorbic acid. It is used in detergents, shampoos, creams and body and facial products to prevent mould growth and prolong product life.

Sodium benzoate sodium salt of benzoic acid. It is used in body care products, facial care products for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Conclusions

In principle, it is a good shampoo with targeted components to help fine and brittle hair, but the inclusion of  Evernia furfuracea extract. raises some questions. Alpha isomethyl ionone  and  Cocamidopropyl betaine  are also  potential allergens and virtually nothing is known about the composition of the cryptic  Parfum. If you are not prone to allergies, it is a good product, but the problem is that you can become allergic.
