Plot

Captain Colter Stevens (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) suddenly wakes up on a train heading to Chicago and finds himself in an unfamiliar reality. He doesn't remember how he got there, and even more surprisingly, he appears to be in someone else's body.

Stevens soon discovers that he is involved in a secret project called the "Source Code," which allows him to relive the last eight minutes of another person's life in an attempt to uncover the identity of a terrorist who has planted a bomb on that train and prevent a future attack.

During these time loops, he also tries to establish a connection with a woman named Christina (played by Michelle Monaghan), who seems to have a connection to the situation.

The film explores ethical and moral challenges related to time control and reality manipulation. Stevens must face personal dilemmas as he desperately tries to prevent an impending catastrophe.
