REVIEW ASdoMAR - Filetti di tonno al naturale 150 g
The packaging is in a glass jar and the tuna is in water, not oil.
The salt content is rather high, 1.5 grams per 100 grams of product, so a high value.
Very pleasant to taste, this tuna is soaked in seawater, which keeps the tuna soft and preserves it better due to its high salinity. The content is consistent in the sense that the flesh does not melt on contact as is the case with very cheap tuna packs that consist of chopped tuna. Here there are chunks of tuna and it is something else.
The smell is great and so is the taste.
This tuna is not fished in European seas, but the processing is all in Italy where regulations and controls guarantee the consumer a lot. Italy is one of the most active countries in terms of food controls.
Very good product. The only downside is the high salt content.
A few facts about this tuna
The Katsuwonus pelamis or skipjack tuna, a mid-trophic fish species, a mesopredator fish with highly migratory characteristics, is one of the most abundant tuna species that inhabit the equatorial Pacific at depths of less than 100 metres and is among the five most heavily fished species in industrial fisheries. It is the third most fished fish globally.
Tuna meat contains excellent nutrients such as essential amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids, peptides, vitamins and proteins.
