Wholemeal oat flour is obtained by grinding the plant Avena sativa belonging to the Poaceae family. It is a refined flour so it retains some of the plant's nutritional properties.
This cereal contains a lot of protein, low carbohydrates and a good percentage of fiber.
It also contains a good amount of potassium and vitamin B and is one of the cereals that have a particularly low glycemic index.
Also useful in people with diabetes as it counteracts high blood glucose levels.
Some studies have found an ability to strengthen the immune system by Betaglucans contained in oatbran.
More recent studies have shown the antioxidant capacity of this cereal (1).
