Kuwait
Kuwait, officially State of Kuwait, is a small country located at the top of the Persian Gulf in Western Asia. It borders Iraq to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south, with a coastline along the Persian Gulf. The capital is Kuwait City. Kuwaiti culture is influenced by Islam and the Arab desert traditions. Kuwait has a history of maritime trade and pearl diving. Kuwait's economy is heavily dependent on oil, which accounts for the majority of the government's revenue and exports. The country has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. Kuwait is known for its modern architecture, such as the Kuwait Towers, and for its shopping malls and restaurants. It played a significant role in recent history, particularly during the 1990-1991 Gulf War, when it was invaded by Iraq under Saddam Hussein and later liberated by a US-led coalition.
