Montserrat
Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory located in the Eastern Caribbean. It is a small volcanic island, known for its lush mountains and black sand beaches. The capital was Plymouth, but it was abandoned following an eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano in 1995, which covered much of the island in ash and lava. Since then, Brades has become the de facto administrative center. Montserrat's culture is a mix of African, Irish, and British influences, evident in music, such as calypso and soca, and cultural traditions. The island's economy is primarily based on tourism, agriculture, and financial aid from the United Kingdom. Montserrat is known for its unique volcanic landscape and biodiversity, with numerous endemic plant and animal species. Despite the challenges posed by the active volcano, the island attracts visitors interested in its natural history and tranquility.
