Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan, officially Republic of Turkmenistan, is a country in Central Asia, bordering Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the northeast, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south, and the Caspian Sea to the west. The capital is Ashgabat. Turkmenistan is known for its vast Karakum Desert, which covers much of the country. Turkmen culture is deeply rooted in its nomadic and tribal traditions, with a strong influence of Islam. Turkmenistan's economy is dominated by natural resources, particularly natural gas, which is one of the country's main exports. Turkmenistan is also famous for its carpets and for the Akhal-Teke horses, one of the oldest and purest breeds in the world.
