Plot
The story begins with Allan Karlsson (played by Robert Gustafsson), a Swedish centenarian living in a nursing home. Allan is tired of life in the nursing home and decides to escape. Without a specific plan, he ends up stealing a suitcase containing a large sum of money and embarks on an adventurous journey.
As he departs from the nursing home, Allan befriends various eccentric characters, including Julius Jonsson (played by Iwar Wiklander), an amateur criminal, and Benny (played by David Wiberg), a young man with a passion for fireworks. Together, they find themselves involved in a series of chaotic and comedic situations.
Parallel to Allan's escape, flashbacks of his life are shown, which he spent in the company of historical figures such as U.S. President Harry S. Truman and atomic scientist Robert Oppenheimer. His past experiences intertwine in extraordinary ways with current events.
The film is a witty and surreal comedy that explores themes of adventure, friendship, and Allan's tumultuous past. "The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared" is based on the novel of the same name by Jonas Jonasson
