Plot
The story is narrated from the perspective of Nick Carraway, a young writer who moves to Long Island to work in the financial world. He settles near the mysterious and extravagant mansion of Jay Gatsby, a wealthy and enigmatic man known for his lavish parties.
Nick becomes friends with Gatsby and becomes entangled in the complex love story between Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, a beautiful but shallow woman married to Tom Buchanan. Gatsby is obsessed with Daisy, with whom he had a romance before leaving for the war. Now he is determined to win her back at any cost.
The story explores themes of unrequited love, wealth, corruption, and the American Dream during the Prohibition era. The film captures the glamorous and decadent atmosphere of the "Roaring Twenties" but also reveals the emptiness and sadness hidden beneath the facade of opulence.
