Borgo Nuovo is the modern part of Bardonecchia, connected to the Borgo Vecchio (the oldest and most characteristic part) with the central Via Medail, full of shops.

My suggestions

Breakfast

If you want to have breakfast and choose among many croissants, focaccia, pizzas, cannoli, etc., I recommend the Bar Style Café in via Medail 25. It also has great regular baguettes and baguettes with cereals.

Lunch at home

For lunch at home you can enjoy from La Bottega Della Carne in Via Medail 67 an exceptional veal with pink meat (Vitello tonnato) and very light sauce, then anchovies in green bath and tongue in green bath. It’s a butcher’s shop, it’s got really good meat and broilers on a spit.

The Natta Gastronomy in via Medail 27 has a large assortment of ready meals, all of excellent quality.

Pastry

The Ugetti pastry shop in via Medail 80 is a spectacle for the eyes and for the taste. All exquisite.

Newspapers and books

There are two newsagents, at the beginning of Via Medail Giornali Brunelli at number 15 and at the bottom of Via Medail, in front of the railway line,  La Guglia Rossa at number 87.

Over the railroad

Via Medail is interrupted by the railway, to resume, after the underpass overlooking the large Piazza Statuto, where, on Saturday morning, there is a large market of various kinds, from food to clothing and more.

Restaurants

In via Medail 96, beyond the railway, there is a family restaurant where I always ate well and in recent times, with the owner’s daughter in the kitchen, the dishes are tasty and refined, the Stella Alpima.
