Defect: Scooba 450 does not suck up water

Scooba 450 leaves a lot of water on the floor and does not suck it up.

In the tank, the dirty water compartment (grey cap) is empty or contains very little water.
Solution.

Unfortunately, this is the worst defect because it is not the pump (which is replaceable), but the suction system, which consists of a fan controlled by an electronic circuit. It is quite accessible, but the repair is not as affordable as replacing the pump.

The fan is on the opposite side of the pump and is connected to the electrical circuit that controls it with wires.

One can try to change the fan, but it is necessary to cut the wires, replace the fan and solder the wires back together. This is an attempt.

If it still does not act with this replacement, it is a fault in the electronic circuit that is embedded in black resin, so it is virtually impossible to repair.

Anyway, this is the procedure (as a hobbyist):

Remove the brush and, under the brush the plastic guard.

2 screws to unscrew (those are not lost because they are attached to the plastic)

This is the fan connected with several wires to the electronic circuit.

Now, to pull it out, you have to lift the black plastic bottom, unscrewing 12 screws (trying not to lose them because they do not stick to the plastic). You have to exert a good deal of force, after unscrewing all the screws, to extract the bottom, and the screws will splash all over the room (equip yourself with a good magnet to go looking for them).

With that done, here is the fan to be replaced :
 

And here are the connecting wires, which, fortunately, are quite long.

P.S. Important. In any case, the Scooba 450 must act at least once a week in order to prevent the little tube that leads the water to the pump (3 mm diameter) from drying out.

On the Scooba 450, error 1 is associated with the red light to the left of the CLEAN button flashing.

The error is not common, but occurs approximately after a year or more of prolonged use or after a long period of inactivity of the Scooba 450.

The message says "I have encountered error 1. Contact IRobot technical  support".

Řešení:  vstříknout vodu pomocí pumpičky.

Sundat nádrž :  zatlačit na černé tlačítko.                                                             

Vyjmout kartáč.

Pomocí pumpičky vstříknout vodu do 3 míst.                                     

Z bodu 1 a 2 musí vytéct voda.  Z bodu 3 voda nevyteče.

V nádržce stisknout 3 , 4 x  směrem dovnitř ventil – voda.

Po této proceduře by měla Scooba 450 fungovat.

Pamatuj:

vždy čistit filtr, kartáč, nádržku.

Při každém druhém mytí, použít k mytí vodu s dvěma lžičkami  octa, aby zůstaly trubičky čisté.

If the Scooba 450 turns on, it has a green battery LED lit, but when you press the START button it does not start, the problem is the battery that does not provide sufficient starting.

Try to recharge it all night and, if it doesn't even work like that, replace it.

A second-generation floor washer, after the Scooba 385 and 390, iRobot has released the 450 model on the market. It consumes little water, cleans more thoroughly and is faster than its predecessors. 

It has two action choices that can be configured simply by a button on the top:

• wash a small room in 20 minutes 
• wash a large room in 40 minutes

A new battery performs 1 cycle of 40', or 2 cycles of 20', then it needs to be recharged.

The rechargeable battery lasts about a year and a half depending on the work done and the recharges. Then it needs to be replaced, but it is not expensive.

The iRobot Scooba 450 leaves the floor clean, wet, like when you mop the floor with a cloth.

It is the only little robot that gently brushes the floor when it scrubs. All other robot scrubbers on the market today do not have brushes, but only drag a wet cloth back and forth, which becomes dirty after a few passes. Scooba 450's brushing technology is unique.

This little robot takes the most annoying and time-consuming work out of housework.

In times of COVID is essential and unique for disinfection. In fact, just add a few drops of disinfectant in the tank and the Scooba will distribute them evenly on the floor sanitizing it.

Conclusions

Absolutely Scooba 450 is the best floor cleaner currently on the market. I have been testing this little robot for months and confirm my first impressionw: very useful and effective.
