It often happens in Assetto corsa that the G29 steering wheel is aligned at the start of a race, but in the simulator screenshot practically misaligned about 31° to the right.Logitech G-HUB software reveals the misalignment of about 31° to the right but does not correct it.

It thinks the position of the steering wheel in the simulator is correct and not the position of the hardware. If you press the accelerator the car crashes into the right wall.

The only solution is to turn the steering wheel all to the right and then all to the left. After this correction the steering wheel is correctly centered.

Windows 10 - Steam

Driving a car in a game or in a simulation requires precision. As with other steering wheels, the dead zone problem on the Logitech G29 and G920 poses serious driving difficulties.

The dead zone is the space where the steering wheel does not respond, i.e. it does not turn left or right. The car is difficult to drive, it skids, it is difficult to keep it on the road.

Very difficult to win a race.

All games have a menu for adjustments, but they are ineffective or only slightly improve performance.

To solve this problem, Logitech has published on its website the Logitech G HUB program that lets you adjust the steering wheel in:

Sensitivity from 0 to 100

Operating range from 0 to 900

Centering spring force from 0 to 100

Let's see the settings on Assetto Corsa, a simulator, and Forza Horizon 4, an arcade.

It is essential to download Content Manager (which will be used mainly to better launch the simulator, install cars, circuits, utilities, etc.) a completely free program called LUT that you can download HERE.

Drag the zipper file into Content Manager and it will be installed right away.

You can find the LUT mode in Content Manager in SETTING and CONTROLS but you have to enable the Enable FFB post-processing box

IMPORTANT

The steering wheel must be turned on before starting Forza Horizon 4.

The Logitech G HUB program must start before you start Forza Horizon 4.

If you start Forza Horizon 4 first, it maintains its settings and not the Logitech G HUB settings.

You can change the Logitech G HUB values during the game.

I got the best performance with values close to these settings, which are very different from the default settings.

If the car is still difficult to drive, with these parameters changed, try switching cars, It usually works.

Logitech G29 and G920 steering wheels are almost the same, with the same electronics and components. Only the key layout and a few colors change.

Both have the same problems and merits.

It may happen that the game no longer recognizes the steering wheel and the error displayed is "I do not recognize the device" or "Device not present", depending on the programs that use it.

 The green LED next to the "PS3-PS4" slide switch does not light up.

It is a fairly common error and easy to solve.

Unplugging the wheel from the power supply and USB and then reconnecting the plug, the wheel will either start the startup cycle or will struggle to complete it or will not even start.

Solution

• Disconnect the wheel unit’s power adapter from the power source
• Disconnect the wheel unit’s USB connection from the game console or PC
• Disconnect the pedal and power cables from the steering wheel console (all cables under the steering wheel).
• Wait 30 seconds
• Connect all cables and finally connect the power supply to the power source

The numbers start at 1 and stop at 12.

13 to 19 are attributed to the manual gearbox

they pick up from 20 and end up at 25

G29 and G920 that differ for small details such as the shift lights, the color and position of some LEDs, the color of the steering wheel strip. From a substantial point of view there is no improvement or worsening in the operation. They are both excellent steering wheels that fall within a medium/high price range, with very accurate finishing, little plastic, considerable weight, ease of use and complete software.

The steering wheel is equipped with an integrated fixing system for mounting on a table.

Very well cared for the steering wheel covered in leather, solid.

The steering wheel uses two motors with helical gears that provide quite realistic and not exaggerated feedback. Inside there is a safety circuit against overheating that acts as protection against high temperatures. In rare cases, the feedback functionality may be interrupted during use even if the controls continue to work. In this case, the solution is to let the steering wheel cool down and turn it off by disconnecting it. 

The steering wheel levers are in stainless steel, very accurate and the progression is uniform. I didn't notice any sharpness in driving, acceleration and abrupt steering. It's all very smooth.

The pedal unit has 3 carefully constructed stainless steel pedals. They don't have the plastic effect of many other cheaper steering wheels.

Clutch pedal, non-linear brake pedal, throttle pedal. There is also a patented carpet grip system at the bottom that works really well. Of course, if you exaggerate the pressure, the pedal will move, but under normal conditions it is stationary. There are also 6 fixing points for M6X1 bolts.

Conclusion.

Both G29 and G920 are worth the price because they simulate in a more realistic way the driving of a real car and, even if there are no major differences between the two models, my preference goes to G29.
