Assetto Corsa is a fantastic simulator, the cars are for the most part very close to reality, the circuits are very well painted and an impressive amount of Mods has increased the usability of the game to very high levels.
Of course, since it is a simulator and not an arcade game, users tend to get the greatest possible immersion in reality. Kunos has created, in my opinion, the best car simulator currently on the market, a product that despite being born in 2014 shows no signs of decline, but on the contrary continues its upward race of popularity.
As in all the simulation products also in Assetto Corsa there is a side strongly less realistic and it is... the spectators. I don't know if this detail is important for the majority of the players, but in my opinion it is and a lot.
As you can see from the image, there is no comparison between the car's adherence to reality and the crowd. The spectators look like newspaper clippings.
Kunos did a good job though, the characters were drawn with some care as you can see from these original "people_sit.dds" files
"people-B.dds"
not bad at all!
So how come the race result is this?
Mind you, I have an i9 and Geforce 2080 super, 16Gb RAM
It was not and is not possible to do otherwise, at least with current technology for a question of distance of the objects in the simulator and occupation of PC memory that otherwise would slow down too much the simulator especially in computers with slower processor.
Thankfully, in the flood of Mods, No People 2.3 created by Paulaob has solved this problem at the root: no more clippings in the distance, let's remove the audience.
I like the solution and the replays without an audience are much more realistic.
So, waiting for the programmers of Unreal Engine,( the graphics engine of Assetto Corsa, to develop a rendering without a limit of polygons, as they announced and that does not slow down the speed and frame rate) we use No People 2.3
To install download the mod, extract the zipped file and copy the contents of the folder "Assetto corsa", that is the folder "content" on the main folder "assetto corsa" that is located in STEAM>steamapp>common>assettocorsa (and not in the folder "Documents")
and overwrite everything when prompted. Backup the original files if you want to restore the mod in the future. Beware that if you haven't installed some of the tracks supported by this mod some folders will be empty in the "racing trim / content / tracks" folder. You can load them later.
This is the visual difference:
Conclusions
A great little Mod that I think adds more realism and immersion in the simulator.
