Manganese Gluconate is a chemical compound, a manganese salt of gluconic acid.
It activates any enzyme and is a catalyst in the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol, oxidizes fat, affects blood sugar regulation and breast milk production.
It is used as a food additive because of its color and texture.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of manganese gluconate, a chemical activator of bleaching agents, at a concentration of 0.01% on the efficiency of a 10% carbamide peroxide bleaching agent. The addition of 0.01% manganese gluconate to 10% carbamide peroxide whitening gel increased the degree of tooth whitening after a seven-day treatment and did not affect the resulting shade after 14 days (1).
Although the trace elements zinc, copper, and manganese are used in vivo for their healing properties, their mechanism of action is still only partially known. This study demonstrates how the expression of these integrins is modulated in vitro by trace elements. The inductive effect of zinc was particularly notable on integrins affecting cell mobility in the proliferation phase of wound healing (alpha3, alpha6, alphaV) and that of copper on integrins expressed by supra basally differentiated keratinocytes during the final phase of healing (alpha2, beta1, and alpha6), whereas manganese had a mixed effect (2).
