O-Cymen5-Ol is a natural product, an alkylbenzene, which occurs naturally in the plant kingdom (Salvia rosmarinus) and is produced industrially by chemical synthesis as 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol.
It occurs as a white crystalline powder insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents, such as in ethanol 36% solubility, methanol 65%, isopropyl alcohol 50%, n-butanol 32%, acetone 65%.
What it is used for and where
Cosmetics
It is a relatively new product that is used as a bactericide and antiseptic in face and personal care creams. It is present in many toothpastes as a bactericide and to improve the rate of gum bleeding (1).
