Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) belongs to the Lauraceae family and was considered by the ancient Greeks a sacred tree, with whose leaves were created crowns that were placed on the head of those who excelled, from games to literature, to weapons.

It is among the Lauraceae perhaps the only non-toxic or poisonous and is used in the kitchen to flavor foods, both with leaves and with berries.

It has disinfectant and tonic properties.
