What is Boron
It is an element with atomic symbol B, atomic number 5.
Where is it ?
It is found in nature in fruits such as pear, grape and, in lesser quantities, in almonds, legumes and others.
What is it for?
Boron is a very hard element and is essential for the growth of green plants.
It absorbs calcium in the human body.
In vitro, animal, and human experiments have shown that boron is a bioactive element in nutritional amounts that beneficially affects bone growth and central nervous system function, alleviates arthritic symptoms, facilitates hormone action and is associated with a reduced risk for some types of cancer. Increasing boron intake (an intake of less than 1.0mg/day ) by consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts and pulses should be recognized as a reasonable dietary recommendation to enhance health and well-being (1).
Essential in neodymium magnets found in hard drives, wind turbines, medical devices and more.
It is used to control nuclear reactions as it absorbs neutrons and is located in the reactor control bars.
