Review BORSA - Fette biscottate germe di grano 300 g
Ingredienti
Let us examine the most significant ingredients in order of quantity as indicated on the label. I provide a brief summary for reasons of space. For the full text, studies and bibliography, just click on the ingredient and, if you want to go deeper, it is perhaps a little complex reading because these are scientific studies, but it clarifies the ingredient/health relationship.
Farina di frumento. Since the type is not specified, I must assume that it is a refined flour.
Olio di semi di girasole. It is characterised by a high niacin, vitamin B6 and folate content, as well as a high linoleic acid content, all components with antioxidant activity. It has a moderate sodium content and is the best oil after olive oil. In particular, the high oleic is a version with lower levels (8.5 per cent) of saturated fats and vitamins E, F.
Zucchero. The less you consume the better. We already consume sugar in food and an excess can lead to damage in the cardiovascular system.
Lievito. It exerts a positive influence on the final product, improves the consistency, shelf-life, taste and above all the functional and nutritional characteristics of the product.
Germe di grano. The main component of wheat is starch, a source of glucose rapidly released during digestion.
Sale. It is advisable to reduce salt consumption as it may cause damage to the cardiovascular system and increase the values of harmful LDL-cholesterol and cause hypertension, obesity and other serious diseases.
Glutine di frumento. It is a concentrate of the properties of wheat.
Acido ascorbico. It is a chemical compound, a synthesised vitamin C. It is added here to improve the absorption of water by the flour, which results in greater volume and better control of the product during rising.
Nutritional table
Calories are contained below the 400 threshold.
Sugars have a low value
Salt has a high value as is the case in almost all rusks on the market where an attempt is made to balance the lack of sugar to improve the taste.
Conclusions
Good organic product although I personally prefer rusks with a salt level of less than 1 gram per 100 grams of product. Most of the ingredients come from organic farming and the printing inks are of vegetable origin.
